I'll try to post some info on all thigs related to WE 2008, with the hope it might be helpful to those willing to plan their trip. Please, do ask if you need further info. Unless stated, all links will be to sites in English.

So there goes the firs one:

Getting there

Air
Girona’s airport (code GRO) is located 12 kms away from the town. It mainly handles cheap-company flights from/to Europe and the rest of Spain. At the time of writing, no intercontinental flights land there.
Girona airport

The nearest big airport is that of Barcelona (code BCN), which is 100 kms away from Girona. Most international major companies operate from Barcelona, though most intercontinental flights will need a connection either in Madrid or any other European city.
Barcelona airport

Another good alternative airport is that of Perpignan (code PGF), a French town located 90 kms away from Girona.
Perpignan airport

You can find major car rental companies in all three airports.

Train
You can reach Girona in 1-1 ½ hours from Barcelona, depending on the train you catch. Trains operate more or less every hour during daytime.
RENFE- Spanish train company

Car/coach
Many bus lines connect Barcelona and Girona. There are also lots of buses connecting Girona with the coastal towns around.

Girona is 1 hour drive away from Barcelona and 45 min away from Perpignan, in France. The highway connecting Barcelona to Girona and Girona to France is a toll one

One thing i forgot to mention. Many low-cost companies say in their websites their destination is "Barcelona" "Barcelona (GRO)" or "Barcelona-Girona", while their real destination is Girona airport. So, if searching for a flight to Girona, type Barcelona in the destination box and then check the airport code in the results.
