I thought the show was good, and saw a lot of people taking photographs,but I find it strange that English shows,shows from all over,are easy to find,but a week later, there are none advertised. I feel that if we don't promote the hobby enough,the younger generation that we need to keep the hobby alive in Scotland will lose heart.

It was probably one of the best for a few years but only if your interest was armour and planes.
Very few figures, most being sci figure and on club stands. Ok it could be argued that those figure painters who attend should enter work.
This reluctance stems back to previous years where the pieces were even picked up by members of the public, something in fairness that I only saw once but I'm not prepared to risk it.
With the exception of Mitches all the traders were geared up to armour there wasn't even much in the way of groundwork materials.
As for photos there's never much to be seen, you could check the blogs of the various IPMS groups and you might find something, perhaps a show report might appear on the Glasgow IPMS website.

I tell you what Del, a show with armour and planes would be a step up from what we've got here on the Isle of Wight mate, a typical modeller here is a grown man playing with a Hornby train set. I'm currently working hard to change things here by starting a Facebook group called Isle of Wight military modelling club, with a view to establishing a permanent club as an alternative to the "trainspotters" that call themselves modellers! I miss the west of Scotland military modelling club run by Robert Bryce, we used to have some outstanding figure painters there like Davie Mitchell, Ronnie and Robert himself.

The WoSMMC are still around although in much reduced numbers but I hear that they have increased their productivity. Davie is still going strong as is Ronnie. Sadly Robert passed away a few years ago.

Cheers Del, I found out about Robert at this years expo from Davie, really sad news. If it wasn't for him and the likes of Ronnie and a few others I probably wouldn't of got serious about the hobby. It's good to know you guys are still out there and the club still exists, it used to the highlight of my month travelling up from Ayrshire to Glasgow to see everyone in that room at the basement of the flats where we used to meet. I've even still got the wee resin trophies we used to get is we won the competition! Haha.. Didn't we meet up in Folkestone this year with Davie? That was you wasn't it?
Ronnie, thanks mate, I've got a massive uphill struggle getting this one going, so far I've got 2 people interested, and no one that paints figures! Good to hear from you again mate.

John we haven't been members of the club for years and they now meet in one of the members homes. Davie. Ronnie, Brian and myself regularly get together.

Can't speak for the others but it'll be between Folkestone or SMC for me. I'll make the call as soon as the train and flight timetables come out. It can be quite a bit cheaper and a lot quicker to fly to Eindhoven froom Scotland than to get the train to Folkestone.

Kind of like living in a really big village, were everyone knows and most probably are related to each other Ronnie! It is a nice place, just takes a lot of getting used to...and needs a population transplant. Haha
