Hello,
here are the Photos of my last project:
the painting of a dirty and tired crusader knight in the holy land.
The figure is from a little german label called Frank Miniatures and is sculpted from Alan Ball. The size is 75mm.
It's painted in arcyl and Printers Ink and i tried to make him very dirty and full of dust and blood.

Hello Frank,

You did a great job on a wonderfull figure. But i really wanted to make a little comment. You painted the knight tired and full of dust and blood.
So he has a great fight.
The shield is so clear of dust and blood. In my opinion did doesn't stroke with what you want to achive.
Don't you think you should make the wonderfull painted shield look that it just come out of the fight.
But be carefull to do not overdoing it. You figure is amazing painted.

Just my two cents.

Marc.

I really like it Frank. Suberb painting on a lovely figure. I will agree with Marc though, but that's something that it can be corrected easily.

Hello Frank,
the figure is very nice and your paint job too is really good. In my opinion a figure like that is much more realistic than the brand new knights out there.

The sculpt seems inspired by a plate I found on the web some time ago, but I dont know about the author. You can see a copy of that plate here. The url from where it was downloaded seems out of service now.

Is not a criticism, really, but I'm not sure if an Hospitallier (?, I suppose due to the dark tunic) would worn his own coat of arms on the shield.

Thanks for the kind words from all of you.

@Luca: Yes it should be a Hospitaller. The yellow fish on the shield is inspired from a Plate in the Osprey elite-book about the crusades. There is a picture of it with the fish and a white cross above the fish. -I am not sure if this plate is historically correct or not, but I thought it would be a good idea to paint a warm and light coulour into the masses of black and brown.

@captnenglish: Indeed this is the best crusader miniature on the market.

@dan: I forgot to answer yesterday. Mea culpa! The photos were shot with two lamps as lightning sources from my offive, that's all. No flash and with the marco function of my digicam.
The link to the manufacturer is here:

It's only in German but if you wish I could translate it to you in english.
