Hi all,

Just planning a trip to Paris in December. Definitely going to the Hotel Invalides and the Musee Armee.

I heard of the Musee Emperi but it seems to be located in Salon de Provence, south of France.

Does anyone know how to get there from Paris, preferably by train, and back? There aren't any obvious directions to go there and I don't even know whether it is open in December?

Rgds
Victor.

The museum is open all year except Monday.
You can go by train from Paris, but I do not think it's a direct line ... almost 5 hours trip if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Jai. You've confirmed what I think is the travel distance to this museum. What a pity that I am unlikely to visit it then

I was at the Emperi last summer since we were visiting the area. It was worth the visit but I would not travel all the way from Paris just to visit this museum. Enjoy Paris, Versailles and La Loire. You'll have plenty to see !

You've GOT to visit "Les Drapeaux" model soldier shop, very close to the Louvre and Palais Royal, at 1, Place Colette, Boutique Noxa, 75001, Paris.Metro, Musee de Louvre/Palais Royal. It's a must-see emporium of painted figures, many of which you will recognise from various manufacturers. The prices are astronomically high (It's Paris, after all!), but you will easily spend an afternoon simply marvelling at the collections. It's deceptively large once you go inside, and the young manager is very helpful and knowledgeable. Hope this helps.

Alex n Alan, thx for yr replies. I certainly will visit that le Drapeux shop.
Vive le Empereur...

Victor - Do your historical interests include WW1? If so, there are a series of small bus trips (Viator) with driver/tour guides I can recommend. We were on five last summer. The Le Poilu militaria shop in Paris [http://lepoilu-paris.com/fr/] on Emile Duclaux has lots of WW1 & WW2 and a little Franco-Prussian period stuff. Drop me a PM if you are interested.

Have fun!

All the best,
Dan
