Hi.

Can you tell me which color you use to make gold color darker ? I've already tried with black and brown but the result was not very good.

Thanks.

Arnaud

What type of paint are you using?
You could try mixing in brown ink or use it as a wash afterward.
Alternatively add orange or deep yellow.

Have fun:D

I'm an acrylic painter so I usually undercoat with Vallejo saddle brown first & then glaze on the gold until I'm satisfied. If any extra is needed, I then use the smoke glaze by Vallejo to darken it some more.

Hi.

I use humbrol or enamel paint. May be I use too much brown but I will try with orange or dark yellow.

Thanks

hi, I use humbrol gold, just the pigment from the bottom of the tin, use Liquin to get the right consistency then add a LITTLE burnt umber oil paint to darken. For highlighting I mix a little silver to the base mix and apply sparingly!
cheers....
