A dear friend of mine attended the Gordon Boys Military School in his youth during the 1970’s . The schools was set up by Queen Victoria to commemorate General Gordon of Khartoum fame. Original just a boys school it now takes pupils of all genders.
I thought I’d have a go at making a figure of him in 200m scale (1/9th) based on the attached photo.
plain blue tunic with yellow cord on the shoulders, five brass buttons down the front, two rear vents at the back, no pockets and a stand up collar.
Red stripes on lower left sleeve denoting seniority/rank.
Trews in Gordon tartan.
The head is from Mitches Military Models, the Martini Henry carbine from Reedees (which will require a work to reflect the mark used by my friend) and the hands printed to order by Scientific Models. Thank you all.
The legs from my spares box (just goes to show…..don’t throw anything away!).
will I be brave enough to try and paint the tartan (which would be a first!) or “bronze” the whole thing
