Hi guys
I saw this on my Internet travels and thought this would make a wonderful sculpt , I feel it has everything a message and a story and speaks volumes about the enduring pain that the ones that came back suffered and the sense of guilt that overwhelms them I for one have seen my dad feel this .
This was in 2010 VJ Day London my god haven't their numbers thinned .
Cheers Chris

I think a veteran would be a great idea, especially as you say Chris the numbers are thinning and we have lost all of our WW1 vets. Maybe a bust of Harry Patch to go with it?

John

Yes it would make a good subject, I think we forget about those who returned in the modelling world, I have old photos of my Granddad when he was in civilian life after WW1, (looked a right crook) photo was called The Mafia (London 1925ish)

It would look great as two sculpts side by side or back to back on one plinth, the first as a young fresh faced faced soldier and the other as the veteran like in the photo at the cenotaph.

Roger.
I think thats been done with a Russian sculpt Rog, as for the original pic I dunno to me and this is a purely personal IMO it would be like intruding into the mans personal life if a stranger sculpted from it no matter how good the intentions a none specific sculpt along those lines I'd be fine with

Do you see what I mean

I have to agree what an incredible generation ....very humbling and sad to think of their ranks thinning .....when I started my apprenticeship back in the 1970's I worked with 2 Normandy vets a Italian star vet and prisoner of war of the Japanese they all were wounded in some way but they were such great guys to talk to..... sadly now all gone I was proud to have known them all I sometimes wonder if our generation have lived up to their sacrifice?....Kevin
