I'm posting these two marvelous paintings by the British artist, Gilbert Rogers, from a discussion and post on the Great War Forum. I'm definitely doing a figure of the dead stretcher bearer and possibly both of them. I don't mind admitting that I find both inspiring and moving in entirely different ways.

Hello Guys

After a visit to the Imperial War Museum in London back in the early 90's, I saw this painting of the streatcher bearer, and immediately planned to do a model of this scene. Sculping the whole figure was way to scary so I chopped up a Kirin 1/16 stormtrooper and made a scratch stretcher, bag and cap. Using this method without any sculping on the figure made the posing a little bit difficult, he looks a little stiff

I'd love to see someone do this scene again.

If I had done this project today, I think I would have done it in a different scale, made the figure from scratch and done some more work on the groundwork.
Well here it is made back in 1992.

Cheers

Per Olav
