Luca,
Looking at it I read it two ways.

GREDO which is Welsh for creed or belief.

CREDO which is Latin for "I believe"

Given the time period based upon surcoat and armor as well as shield shape and heraldry, aprox. 13th c. , and the cruciform stance it may be easily accepted as either.

Thanks Mike,
yes, the first letter is a 'G'. I supposed something like 'I believe', but I was not sure because the first letter.
In italian too is 'credo', but the form with the 'g' is only used in some rural areas (and in italian is a serious fault), so I was wondering about it. I think you are right (about the Welsh), considering the lion on the shield.
I'm not sure if this is a (modern) scale figure, so I was wondering about it. Maybe an iconographical motif inspired to some historical matter or just a poor picture of a scale model ?

Glad it was of some help. It's hard to say. I suspect it is a modern piece of work. Or a scale figure of some type. Not knowing the scale or anyting else to put it into context, it is almost impossible to put any sort of label on it. Definately done in a very modern style of sculpting and stance.

Pretty neat figure though.

This is a copy (plaster?) with polychromatic finish of a bronze figurine of a romanticized "crusader" executed by the renowned French sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet (1824-1910) circa 1875. The title of the piece is "CREDO". --A~
