Historical Note:
- Greek Fokideas (Central Greece Hoplite) -

The battle of Thermopylae(480B.C) in the 3th Greco-Persian War(480~479B.C.) was an eternal landmark of the Greek bravery in the ancient times.
A Greek forces of almost 6,500~7,000 hoplites stood against a huge Persian forces(1,200 battleships and 170,000~500,000 forces, different according to scholars). This was an extreme action of self-respect and courage, and also love for their birthland. In this war, the spartan king, Leonidas and the Spartan worriors who follow him, and the brave warriors from many polis like Thespiae and Fokida fought together. This fight is always refered as the most characteristic example of a soldiers sacrifice. The helmet that the above hoplite from Fokida is wearing, is one of the Corinthian type helmet, and is loaded with crest holder. Hoplite is dressed with a flexible complex cuirass, enhanced with for extra protection.
The feet are covered with simply decorated Bronze knee protectors. For defense he is carrying 'Hoplon' shield, that can be decorated with a double row of spikes.
That he is carrying in hand, is a classic 'Kopida' style curved sword for the period.
