Greek Hoplite
1:10 scale resin bust
Sculpted by Matt Grech
This is one of the newest releases from El Greco Miniatures. Greek Hoplite Bust Sculpted by Matt Grech. The parts of the bust are packed in a transparent container and all parts are protected inside by a bubble wrap bag. There is a small booklet included which covers some history and equipment referance.
The kit consist of three parts, head torso and pedestal base. Al parts are cast in a light grey resin, a close inspection of all parts show very little clean up of parts and very neat castings.
A close inspection of the head sees the exceptional detail that Matt has sculpted into the character of the face and the unique style he has for creating the locks in the hair.
A rear view of the head shows the small mould plug to be removed and the small mould separation line to be cleaned away. Again we can see the high level of detail and the quality of casting.
A front view of the main torso shows the quality of the casting. The shoulder and breast plates have been sculpted blank, no detail, this give the painter a free hand to paint the one many Greek designs directly to these areas, a very neat idea.
A rear view of the main torso.
The pedestal locates nicely into the bottom of the main part of the bust. It had an angle at the top of the pedestal to give the impression of the bust leaning forward once mounted.
Three angles on the assembled piece.
Conclusion:Another very nice sculpt from Matt. Very clean castings of all pieces, as good as some of the other top manufactures out there. The level of detail sculpted into the face and hair is very sharp, an exceptional piece from this up and coming company, highly recommended.
