Returning to the hobby after 40 years and discovered this site. Wonderful resources and info. Used to work mainly with wargaming 1/72 and 54mm and 1/35 historex, airfix and tamiya figures and modifying them. I am exploring the ins and outs of working with acrylics vs enamels and it is fun. I am really enjoying the expanded range of figure types that have departed from mannequins into the wide range of dynamic/storytelling poses and vignettes. Sculpting has really improved with metal and resin. I am trying out some busts but prefer the full figures. I like pretty much anything before WWII. I have been duly warned about grey army recruiting and ignored it. Any ideas for the dwindling supply of shelf space?
Cheers

Hello, Shawn and welcome to Planet Figure, the best miniatures site on the web. We're glad to have you with us. At the Planet it doesn't matter what you like to paint. It doesn't matter how well you paint it. All that matters is that you enjoy our mutually shared hobby. As Nap said feel free to look around and ask any questions you may have. After all, we're all in this together.
Rick

The thing with buying more shelves is you need more walls. My wife has mentioned wanting a bigger place, maybe now is the time...

Welcome to the Planet, Shawn!
As far as space goes, it's either display, or storage. I have more of the latter than the former, so a lot of my stuff, finished or unfinished, is in boxes. I will bring out my "Kaiser's Army/Berlin 1910" collection in another month and set it up for Christmas. About 300 figures, in gloss finish, some commercially painted figures but mostly Staddens, Rose, and similar older makes that I've painted myself. The Alexander Grenadiers on parade in greatcoat order, officers taking the salute, civilians watching the parade. That's about the only time they see the light of day.
I look forward to seeing your work!
Prost!
Brad

Hi Shawn
In case you aren't aware, ICM make a nice range of WW1 figure sets in 1/35, with good vignette potential.
Cheers
