I am loving this :)
The grenadier has never sold very well since I took over the masters.
All I can say is thank you David for showing these pieces so well
Best wishes
Graham

I retained all the 90mm in metal trying to keep a bit of tradition and as David intended. Recently I have tested a few casts of the 93rd in resin, I think it may be the time to offer these in resin even if limited. I must say that the resin cast I took of the master came out beautifully as David cast his masters in a soft and smooth casting metal before adding metal detail by solder and wire etc

Thank you David for posting, I have followed you in MM for many years

I've got a 95th Rifleman to post in the coming days......................I'll keep you waiting a bit!!!:playful:

I've recently bought some resin figures in 54mm from other manufacturers advertised on here recently. Let's say their advertising photos were flattering to their figures because in the flesh detail such as lace down trousers was grossly over scaled and almost flaking off the figures, detail was blurred etc and some of the anatomy from apparenntly talented sculptors was ....pants!!

I can see the resin Grieve figures you have are sharp, crisp and smooth making painting a cinch! Someone bring David out of retirement!!:joyful:

Hi David
I am really enjoying your trips back in time and also seeing that DFG's pieces stand that test.
This one is beautifly painted, in particular the lace....all those fine lines.
If I can add just one thing that you may be in the process of painting, the two ridges around the red hoops on the drum are the finished edges of the drum head (skin) and should be a similar colour. That said it does not detract from your great brushwork.
All the best,
Keith

I know exactly what you mean David. I spent a year adding legs to a Carl Reid 200mm WW1Gordon Highlander only to be told last week that the dicing on the socks should have a red diamond shape at the top front not black. Accuracy you either hate it or you really hate it.
Still it will give me something to do over the festive season as well as the 6 other unfinished pieces.
Have a great Christmas.
Cheers,
Keith

Graham, is the 93rd available in resin just now?
Have a good one mate.

Barrie.

Having just seen this one and the Rifle figure I'll say here for both, you've done a beautiful paint job on these beautiful sculpts. Your muted colours add realism to the figures making them look like real textiles and your detail work is very crisp and clean... Well done!!!

Are both of these figures 90mm? Who is making the resin recasts available?

Cheers

Colin

Hi Colin,
I think the link you need is the one below. The drummer and 95th Rifle were 90mm in metal. The Royal Horse Artillery officer [see previous thread in completed WIP] was a resin cast and indistinguishable from the metal in detail.

I try to paint 'to scale' ie as if I were viewing the life size figure as it would be about 10m away....................I'm not a big fan of the over emphasised shading and highlighting.

Cheers David

PS I see from some of my familly in Belleville, Ontario you've got some cold and wintry weather over there

Fantastic and realistic work with color. I like realistic style, but the style of great contrasts, too. In both styles can find amazing work. In the style of realism, this piece is absolutely amazing. Cheers Borek
