While finishing the painting on my War of the Roses man at arms I have started my next major conversion….Gus Mccrae from that great tv series Lonesome Dove.
I have had the base figure in my GA for years and I believe it was sculpted by Will Geary (?) for a firm called Glory Boys/Pony Soldiers in the USA.
I have re-imagined the scene where Gus is wounded in the thigh by two arrows and has drawn his Walker Colt. I appreciate that in the actual scene Gus is wearing a waistcoat but I liked the idea of tackling the braces. So I hope any purists will forgive me.
I can’t now find a photo of the base figure (I know I should have taken one before I started!!!). The only thing I can find on the internet is one where someone has “bronzed” it…..but you can get a feel.
