Hello sirs,
This is my last work. The popular pirate bust from H&V. In my opinion the best pirate bust around (even without a monkey!).
All painted in acrylics. I have tried some new techniques for me.
I have tried to improve my skills with the airbrush painting the skin tones with it. I struggled a lot and had to repaint several times until I got something acceptable. I also had a problem with the drying of the paint: I used the standard Vallejo colors and standard Vallejo thinner for airbrush, but when I diluted the paint a lot to make glaces (pressure low) it took a looong time to dry. Even after drying when I tried to do some glazes with brush over it the paint reactivated and messed everything up again!!!!
I also used the sponge technique to simulate the texture on the tricorn hat following some tutorial that I found on Facebook. I’m quite happy with the result. For me the key is to finish the work with a glaze of smoke from Vallejo. It blends all the spots and tones together and gives a slight satin finish, perfect for the leather.
Comments are welcome!
Regards,
Fernando
