Another head in progress. I left it down at the MWS*- so this was around last week's progress. My sculpture lecturer actually dropped by, and at my request, used his red pen to mark all over it- how nice of him.

The head has progress since then, the features made a little more symetrical, et cetera... I think I will try to take another shot of it as soon as my modernist school crappo dies down.

Hi Samuel, sculpting an head and catching the right expression is one of the most fascinating (and difficult) thing, at least for me.
It seems to me you are on the right way. Dont give up, even if you are not satisfied with the final result. A reference (book) which is helping me a lot is the "Portrait Sculpting" by Philippe & Charisse Faraut.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out the website of PCF Studios, yes the book seems impressive.. gotta get it soon. Currently now I have a good collection of classic anatomy books[I am more of a student of drawing], but almost none on sculpting..

Samuel, I'd like to make a suggesttion in regards to the eyes on your head. The eyes look a bit droopy and the space between the top eyelid and what would be the eyebrow looks to be very wide. what scale is the head in? I'm looking forward to future progress on this piece.~Gary

Gary,

It's about 5 cm tall. I will re-do the eye socket area and remove the eyes, yea I believe it's too high up. Is there any other way of making a face look more feminine besides rounding the socket area.. I guess that's where the problem came in.. Thanks again for your critique, I really appreciate it! I think I will review your sculpting tuts again..

Will update once there's something done.

Sincerely,
Sam
