Hi to everyone here,

I am from Singapore and recently got back to painting models after a long hiatus. Hope to enjoy this hobby for a long time to come!

I have a question about the current miniature I am working on, namely, Andrea Miniatures "Viking on Horseback"

The hind legs of the horse have a metal pin which are too long for the base that it comes with. I wonder if I am supposed to cut off the pins so that the horse legs can fit nicely into the groove. Please see attached pic.

Any advice is deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Regards,
Al

My advice would be to leave the pins as they are and secure them through the metal base and into the wooden base underneath. I always screw my metal bases to the wood and then cover the screw head with a bit of milliput and build it into the groundwork.

I see! Thanks alot for your advice, Keith!

And hello to Zane!

Definitely leave the pins in place! as the horse is rearing-up! and, being made of white metal! ..it will need that much more support! .

Mark

Hi Al, welcome on PF, and good luck with that heavy horse. I'd keep those steel pins as long as possible and create a tight fit on the base; they must support a lot of weight.
I'm in Singapore too, just so you know.

Cheers
Adrian
