Hello all, I am new to the whole figurine/model experience, and have received a 1/6 scale figurine made of resin. It is one of the kind of figurines that you put together and paint and so on and so forth.

My questions are, can anyone direct me to a quality airbrush for beginners as well as the types of paints to use in order to paint said figurine. I've painted ceramics for years, but this is my first time with resin, so any info to help out a newbie would be greatly appreciated!

On a side note, I am pretty sure you are to use acrylics, but my knowledge in this area is new, and I am actually quite excited to get into a new hobby. As well if you do direct me to an airbrush, it doesn't necessarily need to be the best, but I don't want a hunk of junk either.

Thanks for your time!

Pleased to meet you.(y)
The articles at the top of the page are useful, and there's lots on YouTube.
Can't help with airbrush suggestions I'm afraid.:(

As per housecarl, take a look around and you will probably stumble onto some airbrushing articles, anyway welcome aboard, not sure where DFW is.

Cheers Zane

A big hello to you
My sister lives in Forth Worth since 35 years now, I was there once on hollydays, in july... warm country
You must search for a model shop arround there, the airbrush used for modelcar, tanks, trucks ( any plastic model shop ) are the same used for figure models and/or have a look for at a Games Workshop .. because I don't think there is any shop, selling figurines, left

Foxcraft,
There is a Hobby town in Lewisville which is resonably close to you, just off of I35. The Lonestar figure club meet there the first Sat of every month at 10.30am and after some of us go for Lunch.
Cheers
John

Hi Foxcraft,

Large scale figures such as 1/6th scale definitely can be airbrushed, but I still prefer to paint mine by brush. I'd recommend a Badger, Sparmax or Paasche airbrush.

Welcome Foxcraft,

I'm from DFW now residing in Houston, TX. You will get all of the advice you need here on PF. If you looking for airbrush tips and equipment, etc, talk to Brian at HobbyTown USA in Colleyville. He has several stores in the DFW area. He is a big supporter of the hobby.
