Hello to all.
I used to paint models about 20 odd years ago then stopped due to other hobbies, if you can call women and drinking hobbies?
Anyhow now being older and needing a hobby I have started again, firstly on wargames figures, but now back onto larger models 54mm and up.
I cant beleive the amount and quality of casts that are now available and the internet makes things a hundred times better and easier.
So to start the ball rolling, I have raked out from storage boxes a John Wayne figure I bought 20 odd years ago, that in my opinion puts any and all other Duke figures in the shade for likeness.
Its around 75mm tall and a typical Duke stance, Winchester on hip held by one hand. The problem though is his hand and Winchester are missing!
He is half painted and I am eager to finish him.
My question is does any one know manufacturer?
I know, not much to go on, I did send away for him but cant remember from where. The new John Wayne figures I have found are not a patch on this figure, Andrea ones etc.
So if still available I would buy another one.
I have found in my storage other unfinished or even started figures, like the 3 Alamo 120mm Mike French Tiny Troopers as well as others.
Any help on this would be much appreciated, I do think manufacturer is now non existent as cant find any reference, but some of you guys could possibly help?
Thanks in advance Michael

Women & drink have been the downfall of many a modeller........
mate, try eBay, you may get lucky. Otherwise the odd one may turn up at a modelling show.
all the best

Thanks for reply, I do and have for a while been checking Ebay for models. Its the manufacturer I am intrigued with as well, as their other models that I vaguely remember being tidy.
I hoped from my description someone would have recognised it. Its been kind of a Holy Grail type search looking for the model etc.:(

Your John Wayne figure sounds like an old Worster figure. Check out The Lost Battalion. They bought the Worster line and have re-released many of Terry's former offerings. Scott at TLB will be able to tell you if he has what your looking for.

John I though that too, but the John Wayne figure on the Lost Battalion site from Terry (Worster), is 100mm and the pose is diferent from the one described by Michael

John Wayne picture

Well here goes with uploading picture of said figure.
I started painting this about 23 years ago with Acrylics, so not that well painted, will probably strip it and start again if I find his arm and gun.
He measures 75mm from base to eyes and in my opinion he is Rooster Cogburn going by pose and eye patch.
Only other clue is J. W. on base.
As I said before this is a very nice sculpt, I would love to get another as well as finding out manufacturer, to buy other models.
So if anyone knows anything please let me know:confused:
It is definitely not a Worster figure, I have taken a look at their site.
Did Phoenix do a Western/ Film series of figures Mark?
Thanks in advance Michael

Yes thats the one, I cant believe you found it. Only problem is its painted and I still dont know manufacturer.
I have mailed the seller to see if he knows maker etc.
Much appreciated and many thanks.
I will continue searching. Michael

How about this idea?

Rather then stall over a lost piece, might it be possible to make a hand holding a rifle?
Find a grasping hand, and then build a rifle to suit?

I know it sounds scary, but the planeteers here are more then willing to help with your efforts?

Just an alternate idea, as a 20year old figure will be challenging to find lost parts.

And a figure this good deserves completeing!

Cheers

Maker Found

Thanks one and all for help.
I now know the manufacturer of the figure, its a 75mm Mike French Tiny Troopers model and obviously out of production. I cant remember them doing this scale but at least I now have something to go on.
As for making a gun and hand, I'll leave that idea for a while and I'll continue searching for another figure.

Michael.
