Help. ACW uniform.

Hi Figureteers!

Im working on this bust and need some help.

Its a fiver in his cap. I assume this is the number of the regiment, but which one? Or are there several options?

Hello Janne, You are correct about the number on the cap, it was usually a regimental number. Most of the Confederate States had a 5th regiment within its ranks, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, and Virginia, to name a few. I couldn't find a Confederate cap with a number on it, although they did exist. I did find a battle flag from the 5th Arkansas regiment, and a beautiful painting by Don Troiani of the 5th Texas regiment at second manassas 1862.
