A friend has just recently asked for help identifying some figures, from the estate of a family member - she says they are metal, approx 30mm figures and out of 315 only 2 have a name on the bottom of the base, which appears to be Garrison.
As shown in the attached pictures, these are models of the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War - Zulu warriors, 24th Foot, Naval Brigade (maybe?) or other Colonial troops.
I remembered that Garrison was one of the many producers of wargame figures in the early 1970s, and as far as I could recall, their range included Ancients and Napoleonics in 20mm or 25mm, though not 30mm Zulu War (as 54mm is my usual niche, I'm not certain and no expert on the smaller scale).
We found an article by Rob Young in the 'Garrison Journal (2012)' online - http://www.vintagewargamingfigures.info/files/Garrison 2012.pdf - in which he wrote that he had a number of Colonial figures in his own collection. Also, that Garrison had a shop 'The Northern Garrison' until about 1973, and that the company relocated to Thornaby, and then later to Stockton-on-Tees (which coincidentally is the home town of my friend's family).
Please, if anybody here at Planet Figure is able to give any information as to what these figures are, we would be incredibly grateful.
