I am painting the Bust of the 28th foot, Sgt with the spontoon, from stormtroopers. He has on his back the french knapsack and a piece for the Badge? on the back.
I would like some help on this.
Would it be 28 with a crown above
The sphinx with a crown above
or some thing else?
Puzzled:confused:

The Grenadier Company of the 28th [and possibly others?] captured their packs from the French in Egypt [more comfortable than the Trotters pack]. Being made of cowhide they could/would be brown and/or white? Any unit designation would be 'field' applied, so would depend on the artists skills!
Trying to locate a picture.......

About the best I could find showing the cow skin pack!

Thank you Ian and Nap I have the ref's you have but I need the back view. I might go with the Crown, above The Sphinx with XVIII below that but before I commit to paint a bit more digging is needed.
Thank you kindly gents.
