Hi.
Can anyone assist as to the issue of the Blue Patrol Jacket to other ranks of the Infantry of the line in the British Army Circa 1900-02.
If so any information Pictures or info on insignia on the collar if any.
Thanks
Mick

Hi Mick.

I've never heard of blue patrols being worn by infantry other ranks at this period. Only officers, and possibly warrant officers. Cavalry and artillery certainly wore a blue undress tunic but as far as I'm aware, up until 1914 Infantry of the Line wore the scarlet Home Service tunic on all occasions except on campaign.

I stand to be corrected but I'm pretty sure that Blues didn't start being worn by all ranks until the 1920's or 30's.
