Greetings,
I am trying to find out how the reins the reins of a British Cavalry troop horse Cica 1890 are held.
Would I be correct in saying there four reins two either side held in the left hand.

Now the bit I am unsure of.
Do the reins then come up from the bridle pass between the little & ring fingers. across the palm of the hand a over / between the index finger and thumb.

If this is not correct what is ?
Do you have any pictures.

Thanks Mick

Hi Mick
I just googled Horseguards mounted sentry and cropped these for you.
I cannot imagine British cavalry riding training to have a
need for change since the Victorian period ?

Also, the lower arm and hand point directly at the horses
bridle and bit when the reins are under control.

Best wishes

Paul

Hello

I have never ridden with double reigns myself but this link has a nice clear drawing for you. http://www.horseforum.com/english-r...ins-pelham-bits-112284/#/topics/112284?page=1

Good luck

Andrew.
