hello all. I'm looking to use a waffen SS figure (Rottenfuhrer)in a diorama that I'm in the middle of constructing. What I need to know is if can I paint his tunic in some type of camo. He is wearing it seems the standard 4 pocket tunic either M42 or M43 style. The diorama is an eastern front setting taking place in late summer of 1943. The boxart shows him in the pea dot style but if I remember correctly the pea dot style tunics were not issued til March of 44'. Any help would be appreciated on this. If i have to I guess I can still paint him in the standard field grey scheme but would like to go with the camo tunic if I can. TIA!

Hi Dan,
I hope these help, these are 1943 Camo Patterns based on the M43 style field grey tunic. The model figure is one I have just more or less completed using this pattern.
cheers
Richie

Hi Dan ,
In a lot of the books I have read over the years , I think you will find that most ranking officer of the ss could have tunics bespoke made for their own taste using Italian or camo from their own stock , I have seen 1937 cut tunic in 44dot and a combat blouse cut from zeltbahn cloth .However this is a much thinner cloth and might have looked thinner than the wool of a tunic , if you get what I mean
So i spose yes camo him up but be prepared to tell the purists what you have done .
