I am painting the Chamberlain flat I did last weekend and I am having trouble withthe hair. I need the highlights to "Pop" as they do in the photo. I have tried to use yellow and white, but that is not doing the trick. I use oils to paint in. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ed, what I would do is really, really, exagerate the shading/highlights, please see my previous post for examples. With regards to howyou want the finished piece to look, if you're using a photo as reference, then paint what you see.

Also don't be afraid to experiment..... learn and enjoy the experience!

Good luck and please let me know how you get on ;)

Ed, One very important thing you have at your disposal are paintings. aside from have actual depth flats/reliefs are really no different. Having said that, be mindful of where shadows and highlights have been placed.~Gary
