Hi Guys ,

After spending nearly 3 hours going through my references (I have what I am looking for somewhere...just can't get my hands on it !!!) I was wondering if anyone can post/e mail me detailed pictures/original of the plate that was worn on the bearkin by the Scots Greys at Waterloo .

I know it had the Royal Arms in the centre but need more detailed info on the edges and the corners etc .

Hope someone can help (my e mail address is [email protected])

Many thanks

Best I could find. Re-enactment troop, but they are usually pretty hot on research.

Hello Kev,
Check out "The Thin Red Line" by D.S.V &B.K. Fosten, plate x1v....I'm sure you have this in your vast book collection, if not I have it for you to look at.
As you said it is the Royal Coat of arms in the centre of the plate but with two single thistles, each in the bottom corner of the plate placed diagonal with the head facing in toward the Royal coat of arms, with a thin plain border all around the edge of a triangular shaped plate with the two bottom corners cut square.......Hope this helps but as clear as mud I suspect;)
Cheers
Jim

With such a specific question, it might be helpfull to mention the kind of help you seek in your topic instead of a single broad "help". Some people tend to ignore topics with such overused, nothing-relating subject or vocabulary.
