Hi Ross, nice start on the face mate. I saw sometime ago when you were up on the top side of the world you visited the French Army Museum and note the blue of this uniform was somewhat darker than what is usually seen. Are you going to follow through with that on this figure?

Cheers Simon

Hi Ross

A lovely choice , as you say 1/16th , full of details

Nice start and a very french look on the face imo

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun @ the bench

Thanks, Simon. Yes, the uniform on display at the Musee de l'Armee in Paris is noticeably darker than what we normally associate with this unit. I will probably try to replicate this to a degree. However, I suspect if I paint it too dark some people will suggest it is wrong. I had the same issue when painting a Bavarian Jager from the same period. Preserved examples of the 1870 Jager uniform in Bavaria are noticeably darker than how we see them painted. Somehow, probably through their representation in art, we have come to make many assumptions about the colour of some uniform.

Thanks, Kev. It is good to have some time at the bench despite everything that is going on at the moment!

Ross, not sure if you ever met Jack Higgs at the A'shot branch. At one show he had a Humber armoured car that he'd superdetailed inside set in the North African desert. Some knobhwad know it all started to.lecture him that that AC did not have that particular radio fitted in North Africa. His reply was classic, "yes it did" he said"I welded the f...ing thing in there myself". Go for what's correct mate not what people expect, or not it's going to be good either way. I just enjoy rocking the boat from time to.time! Hope all goes well mate, keep strong.

Cheers Simon
