WIP Herringbone USMC WW2 fabric

Hi friends,
Is there somebody to help me on how to paint an USMC WW2 herringbone fabric, especially thin lines: with acrylics and what kind of brush. I am also interested in the base mix color

I thought we've had the question before and there might be some posts that would help you. So I ran a search on "herringbone". It returned a good number of hits, though many were just mentions, like "I painted the herringbone twill..." but not how-to posts. This one does provide a little explanation of the colors:
