Hi guys. Its been quite a while since i posted anywhere. Things have been crazy at home and i have not had anytime to do much of anything. The wife is finally pregnant w/our first child and its been a trip. 1st of all, it took almost 3 years of trying, along w/ doctors visits and tons of $$ but it finally worked :) She was feeling pretty sick for a while but is doing better and im about done getting my degree so im getting the bug to start painting again. Looking on this website and seeing all the great work has really inspired me. Im looking forward to posting here and showing you my progress. Its nice to be back in the hobby again (i tend to have problems w/losing interest on occassion). Thanks guys.

Congrats Dave on the wife being pregnant. I hope she carries durring the term ok. And glad to see you back and we look forward to your contributions.

btw.......alot of us go through dry-spells and we always come back and pick up the brushes. So don't feel guilty about your dryspell. (y)

Hi Guy, thanks :) So far she's doing good. since we had to go to a specialist they have her on all the right hormones and are keeping tabs on her so we have a good shot.

As for the dry spells, i know people go through them but i seem to have them all the time. I dont know what the reason is but ill go months without picking up a brush, then do a figure or two and then hit a dry spell again. I wish i knew a way to keep my interest.....

The biggest reason I have a 1/2 dozen or so figures in progress at one time is to avoid these dry spells. If I don't feel like painting a Celt......I'll switch to an Indian....or a Mountain man.........or a Roman.......because my interest span is short too.

Dave,

Congrats on your impending fatherhood. I have 4 little deductions myself so welcome to the club. As for keeping interest in painting, here's what works for me. I usually stop painting in late April or early May & don't pick up a brush again until the first or 2nd week in September. Summer doesn't seem to last too long here in NW Indiana so I hate to miss it. By the time Sept rolls around, the nights are getting longer & cooler & I'm rarin' to go. I spend the summer months lurking around websites like pF checking out all the great paint jobs submitted there. It's funny but when I see an outstanding figure posted in May, it's almost kinda depressing because I don't think I'll ever be that good. But by the time September gets here, depression turns to inspiration & I look forward to starting up again. No telling if I'll ever be that good, but I'm ready to hit it again. Good luck.

Mike

Hey Dave! Congrats on both the comming kid as well as your degree!

Like stated, we all go through dry spells, what I try to do when in one of these is to just do something, maybe just clean up a seam line or two, and look at a lot of pictures of others work to get inspired again. Maybe just try something new? I hope you get over your builders block soon!

Hello, Dave,

Congrats on the baby thing. I think everyone here who has kids, and most of us who don't, will agree that kids are the single most rewarding miniatures. Way to go on your degree, also. It's never a bad thing to learn.

Dry spell? Dave, once the wee one comes along, you won't have TIME to get in to a dry spell. I personaly don't think of it as a *dry spell* per se, as that implies an obligation to produce, and hobbies, while they may be about producing things, are meant for enjoyment. When you are ready, it will come naturally.

Always good to see a netizen from the past come back around, wishing you all the best!!!
