Remember when it was 1:00 am and you local TV station was signing off? In most NBC markets this came on. I did not know that the poem had been wriiten in 1941 by RCAF Spitfire pilot John Gillespie Magee, Jr. He was killed in action three months after writing this poem. This is the orginal 1960 version with an F-104 Starfighter. It was in color but most of us only had BW tv's then so that's how we remember it.

Hi Larry,

'High Flight' has been used in many a documentary about the 'Battle of Britain'. It truly is very tragic. I hope his family are proud of him.

But I have to say this is never how I imagined it!

The clip with the Starfighter has been read by Troy McLure from the Simpsons! The second one is just as crap!

I've done better flips on pancake day!
