A Fixture
Hi all !
Allow me to show you my latest bust - young Roman cavalry champion of
Hippika Gymnasia 3d century AD.
1/9
Mixed media- sculpey firm, magic sculp, green stuff, copper wire. 7 parts
(also paper ribbons just to illustrate the idea how it is intended)
Its hard to add anything new to plethora of Roman busts available and I wanted to do something fresh and outside of standard. I was also fascinated by Crosby Garret helmet that was found few years ago in area I live. It made a foundation for the idea.
My special thanks go to Hans here on PF who helped immensely with research.
As a little reference about Hippika - have a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippika_gymnasia
I cursed myself at least 7 times on the way for choosing such a complex task, as I had to succeed with making young, Roman looking face and the helmet is quite specific so it required a lot of likeness.
I hope I managed. I certainly gained many levels on the way. How does it always look better in life than on picture???
Thank you for looking.
