Nice painting on this, though Girona put some strange and distracting horizontal folds in the pants. The sculpt also has an unusually long neck. Some of the facial features suggest a Buffalo Soldier of the 9th or 10th Cavalry.

Regardless of the the few aspects of the sculpting that prevented this from being a better figure your painting of it is still very nice.~Gary

Vitalino -

My comments are offered in the spirit of collegiate constructive criticism only.

This is a great subject and the painting is really lovely with fine shading and subtle facial tones! Very well done.

The sculpture - The neck is too long and doesn't look like it could support that head. The head / face is very unusual. I applaud the fact that you can sculpt faces and I freely admit that I can't [yet!]. The campaign hat [Which in my opinion is still one of the best-looking hats the US military ever picked!] absolutely does not fit the head - it's either too small or doesn't go far enough down on the head or somethin'? Usually the campaign hat has a hat band. The tunic, gaiters, shoes, weapon and the field equipment look fine. With some additional work, this could be a really beautiful figure! I sincerely hope I haven't been too harsh above.

All the best,
Dan

Vitalino, by "made," do you mean you painted this or scuplted this? I think we are a bit confused in translation. I know this is sold by Art Girona and this is clearly not the groundwork of the cover art.

Well, regardless of any shortcomings of a given figure, be they real or perceived, you have pulled off a masterful painting of this figure. The treatment of any given color has been done well but what I noticed was your placement of the highlights and shadows along with your contrast. All have been placed where they should be and all have been done very well. An excellent study in highlights, shadows and contrast in 54mm. Well done (y)
