This article was born right here on planetfigure's vbench section where Ernest has taken his 7 page topic and turned it into a 6 page magazine article for Historical Miniature Magazine. 29 photos take you through each step of painting Soldiers 90mm Viking using Vallejo Acrylics. Ernest gives you each color along with its number bringing you to the awesome finished Viking in Battle. Awesome article and would be a must have for any Viking enthusiast.

What is controversial about this?

As a side note, PBS just did a program on Fort Niagara and at one point talked about people heading to the protectio o fthe fort. The illustratio they used for thjis was Griffing's painting.

Al, I'd be curious to see what the hoopla is about. I know Griffing is aware that there are miniatures out there based on his work.~Gary

The contraversy is not about the Griffing painting but about the true way the Indians were treated by the white man which many people find hard to accept.

I'll have to get it for the eye article and to see Ernesto piece in there, too. That has to be one of the best versions I have seen of that wonderful Larruccia piece.

Guy, Let the education begin. Sadly a lot of folks get their history from hollywood. Either that or the condensed sanitized version we were taught in school. I guess it is true that the victor gets to write the history, trimming off all the negative stuff that does not fit the "good guy" mold. If folks get upset over the article I suggest they get their noses into the books to prove what is written is not true.~Gary

Hi Al, Gary and Guy,

thank you for your interest in my article. The article was hard work, as I don't want to repead the old "storys" of the ´"cruel Woodland Indians". I did this article in cooperation with renewed historians like Michael G. Johnson and I used the new results of historical researche. When you read the scholar research of James Axtell, you can see how one eyed was the writing of the white chroniclers.

I know that my article contains a lot of history, but I don't think it is wrong to use the figurine hobby to treat other ethnics with respect and to correct wrong common imagines of a minority.

Thank you for your comment and many greatings from Bavaria

Bruno
