Hi to all our good friends from the Planetfigure,

I would stay in London for three months so I would like to ask for any address or names of good hobby shops in this city? ;)

Any information and comments......

Thanks for the help, this would be my first time on London

Saludos

Eduardo

Hi Eduardo, if you are anywhere near Oxford street there is a small shop called "UNDER TWO FLAGS". It sells figure kits and toy soldiers and the address is

4 STCHRISTOPHER PLACE.

It is hard to find but if you get yourself a small A to Z map you will soon get there.

Andy Couts is the owner and I used to comission figure painting for him a few years ago, he has a good selection of painted figures and kits and also magazines and books and even military prints. Have fun!!!!!

Cheers Steve Walks :)

If you're looking for historical figures Under Two Flags is about it in London as far as I know but I have to point out that it's not the cheapest and with the exchange rate to Sterling it'll work out even more expensive I'm afraid.

Muchas Gracias Steve (y) , when you mention the name something came back to my mind, there is a article on this shop in the FIGURE INTERNATIONAL N 12, with photos and the phone number, I totally forgot about it but thanks to you it came back to me.

Thanks Einion for the comment, if you know any other shop in other cities let me know.

Saludos Cordiales and many thanks for the help

Edwardo,

There is also Tradition on Curzon Street, in the Mayfair district of London.
Lots of good reference material Great selection of toy soldiers.

When you go to Under Two Flags, bring your appetite as it is in the middle of an area containing a number of excellent reastauraunts!

A Train ride to York will get you a great day at York Cathedreal, Viking history and a fine small shop located outsid the wall of the city, I cant remember the name as it was 3 years or so since Ive been there.

There is also a shop in Hendon in the north of London. You can reach it a short walk from Underground station. Not a lot of figures but almost anything else in the modeling hoby you could wish for.

Enjoy England,
Herb Forgey

Interesting Herb.

Is York far from London with train as I will be there with the family first week in august.

Also the Motor Book Shop is worth a visit.
Perhaps someone can provide more details. I would like to remember that theyve had a homepage but I couldnt find it.

Cheers

Hi

If you want good reference, try Foyles Book Shop on Tottenham Court Road, on the second floor is the Military History section, they have one of the largest selection of Osprey books outside of the Osprey Publishing House

Gracias Amigos, thank you for your help, I sure I would pass a good time, one of my plans is to visit the Royal Armoury in Leeds, long trip but could not go to England and not visit the Royal Armoury plus many other places.

Muchas Gracias John Schley, I would also visit Ireland, I would stay in the UK for 3 months so I have to visit many places.

Bad news when hobby shops have to close down :( ,

When I travel to the US I always rent a car but in the UK many people is telling me about the tube and the bus, I think I'm going to get lost the first days, here in Nicaragua I don't use the bus, neither the train which stop running in 1986 ;)

When I visit the shop I would take some photos of the places and show them here.

Saludos y muchas Gracias a Todos

Do you know any figure club in London that I can visit?

There's a shop near Waterloo Station that I only found out about recently. It's called William Allen and it's on Lower Marsh. It stocks mainly books but also has a small number of kits from Elite, Pegaso, Andrea, Beneito, Hornet, Hecker Goros + others. It also stocks a lot of paints from the Vallejo range, quite a few Osprey books and some figure modelling books. Well worth checking out if you're in the area. Otherwise I'd go to Under Two Flags.

I visited Under Two Flags in 1982, and again last year, and was rather thrilled to see that nothing had changed.
