Hi all, I recently came in posseion of several samurai by Hofi. The mounted archer, the bushi warrior and the slain chinese general. All are 120mm figures and they all look to be fairly well casted and fit together pretty good. I cant seem to find any information about Hofi or these pieces and would like to know if anyone has ever built any of these and are there any problems with them?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Ian,

Ho-Fi is a a one man Czech producer, to be honest I don't know much of his figures, but saw a couple here in Prague. Actually he has a fairly big selection, about 50+ pieces from ancient to modern, but no website, or catalog (I have a list in Czech, but don't know if it's complete). As I heard in a local shop here, most problem is with the faces, as they all look asian, but with samurais it's actually handy! :) Otherwise good quality. Wanted to check out a local store outside Prague keeping a big part of the selection, actually. Some years ago they were two, now the other guy doing a line under brandname Sci-Fi, but again only heard, you have to paint in the details.

Not much, but that's what I know. In case you want their product list or other info let me know and will try.

Here is a listing in The Red Lancer's web site that will show you the pose of the figure and what he has available. They list 37 of the figures.

I've never even opened a HOFI kit so can't help you as far as quality.

Hope this helps

I didn't know RL carries the collection! Surely can say that some figures are missing as there are about 8 Nam era figures for sure. For you original question, as far as you are fine with the quality I heard the figures are nice to build. (the bottom few on RL site has photos and not drawings).

Thanks for the input everyone. From what I have seen of them the detail is very good and the pieces dont need a ton of clean up. I was just curious if anyone had any knowledge of these pieces or of the company. I am planning on doing this piece within the next several months and will let you know how it comes out. Thanks again.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy with family and what not. As regards to the question about whether the Hofi figures look like the box art, the answer is yes. The four figures I have, have fairly crisp detail and not much clean up. I have a mounted archer that resembles the one that SEIL has recently released. In fact it appears to be the same pose and detail level. I did notice when dry fitting the two halves of the horse together the saddle and bridal fringe on the front do not line up perfectly. I figured that when I put them together I would try and line the fringe up the most because the other aspects would be easier to correct. The other aspects of the figure such as head, arms, torso and such are actually cut so that they have a hexagonal male and female key that aligns the limbs in place. As long as you are happy with the pose it appears to take the guess work out of lining things up during assembly. If I can get my model A.D.D. under control I will post pictures of what I have so you can have a look and offer any suggestions.

Since we are on the subject of posting photos I must admit that I am somewhat ignorant on how exactly to do that. How exactly do you create a gallery that many of you have posted. I should just ask my 4 year old but I suspect he already knows I am not to swift. Thanks again for any help.

Thanks for the info. I will set up an account this weekend and post some pictures.
