Hi Folks,

This bust is from Hawk Miniatures and is sold as a Life Guard.
It was sculpted by Rob Lane as a Horse Guard, as titled in his post last January:-

I bought the bust from Hawk Miniatures at Bugle Call in June with the intention of painting it as a Horse Guard. Once I got it home I started searching for relevant references, but all I kept coming up with was a single loop and button on the collar. Eventually I contacted Rob and asked him what he'd used as his reference. His reply was Franklin's book on British Napoleonic Uniforms.
There then followed a Homer moment (Doh!!!) as I looked at my bookshelf and my copy of that book.
Anyway, I've finally managed to get it painted as I wanted, and am now open to any and all criticism.

Cheers,
Andrew

Recently got this one, just started on the face. Stunning little bust hope I can do it nearly as well as you have, very nice.

Graham,
I fully agree that it is a stunning bust from Rob's talented fingers.
Look forward to seeing yours and trust you'll have as much fun painting it as I did.

Cheers,
Andrew

Kevin,
It was nice meeting up at the Avon show. That was a very nice display you had.

With regard to the coat colour, this is more what it looks like:-

However, even though it was taken without additional lighting, digital cameras tend to brighten colours.

You asked for a 'picky' of the reference that I used. This is a scan of the relevant page. The 1814 tunic is the one that I understand that Robert used for his sculpt.

I know nothing as to the correct colour.
This is a nicely painted bust and I like the metallic's.

Thanks for the kind comment Ralph.
The metallics were painted using gold Printers ink (stocked by El Greco) mixed with a little Burnt Umber. Once the paint was fully set, I washed with Vandyke Brown; and finally finished with touches of pure Printers Ink.

Cheers,
Andrew

It looks very good. I recognise this as being more of a true bust, but I wish this was a half or even full figure.

Mike, Brian, Bob,
Many thanks for your kind comments.

Robert,
I'm pleased you like it.
At least now it has its originally intended colour, for me anyway.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Bit late to reply due to being away at the Kulmbach show.
But it is nice to see the Horse Guard version and you have done a good paint job. Hope you will bring it to Euro so I can se if in the flesh so to speak.

Hi John,
I'm pleased you liked it.
Unfortunately, Euro is not on the cards for me.

Cheers,
Andrew
