Can anyone point me to some tutorials or discussions on how to weather a large scale figure (1/9th) to look dirty and battleworn.
Or any finished examples of such painted figures from Napoleonic or similar colourful uniform eras?
Thanks

Hi Rob,
I have no video or references to offer. No doubt others will provide something useful.
My usual way of weathering is one of 'hit and miss' until it looks right.
I use enamels or oils since that allows me the freedom to clean up what I don't like.
Many moons ago I painted a Napoleonic French Infantry bust (CGS Miniatures) which you might find of some interest.

Further in the post you'll also find photos by other painters of the same bust with differing approaches to the weathering.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thank you Andrew, exactly teh sort of thing I am looking for. Very helpful images and a superbly painted bust, your version and the others. Must be something about that particular bust that invokes the right line of thought to go battleworn. Most guides tend to show dirty figures from WW1 onwards, painters seem a lot less willing to desecrate pretty uniforms!

Using the forum’s search function produces several threads on the topic.

First place I looked. Thanks for the pointer though.
