Using Tamiya's 1/35 scale German Aussalt Troops (Infantry), I chose the Commander and cut his head off. My cutting was messy and I was left with a pretty crappy [back] head and some of the neck on the neck and shoulder parts of the figure. After cleaning them both up a bit, I found out most of the molded on hair had been cut off, this doesn't matter as the German helmet is swept back around down the back of the neck. Back to the important stuff, now.
Paint list:
-Tamiya XF-52-Flat Earth
-Humbrol Matt 34-Flat white
-Humbrol Matt 61-Flesh
-Tamiya XF-1-Flat Black
How to:
2.Dilute the Flat White thinly with plain water, this will act as a primer and paint over face, let dry for roughly 10-20 minutes.
3.Dilute the Flesh quite thinly with plain water, this will act as the basecoat, cover all of the face except for eyeholes and mouth and let dry for 5-10 minutes.
4.Dilute the Flat Earth with plain water and hold a light over the face, this will act as the first shade and the light will guide you to where the shadows will be, lightly brush over flesh where the shadows are on the face and let dry for 5-6 minutes.
5.Create a wash using the Flat Black and paint over face, let dry for 2 minutes.
6.Dilute some more Flesh and brush it around the cheekbones, bottom of the neck, front part of the nose (not under the eyes!!!!!!) and ears etc etc. Leave to dry for 20-30 minutes and paint the eyes if wanted to. (With this figure, I am going to paint the eyes later as I want to reposition his head in a different way from its original position).
