Hi AJ,
Very well done on your fundraising venture, looked a rather warm day, I just hope the old legs are OK and your not walking like JohnWayne. Even us chimps like the old 2 wheels.
cheers

GREAT RIDE. I don't wanna rain on your parade AJ, but for us in the Netherlands it is not so much. Last saturday there whas a ride here in town.
It brougth 5.903 riders and a total of € 169.760,15. This money will be brought at 8 september to the great Ride for the Roses.
Five year ago the province Zeeland (where I live) brought € 1.102.348,- and went almost 14.000 riders this money together. (for the great Ride for the Roses)
It is all for the cancer research.
Another excample. Every year there are around 5000 - 6000 people who going onto the Alpe d'Huez. The goal is climbing this mountain 6 times a day on the bike. This year the money whas more then € 25.000.000,-.
All I can hope is that your ride will next year go over this. The goal is awesome.....riding against Diabetic.
So I really hope you do this next year again and then I read that all you great guys will succeed for more then 25 miljoen Dollar. I really do.

Marc, no rain here, it's all good. There are multiple rides for this organization across the country. As you know, we cover a lot more acreage than the Netherlands. This was just a relatively small, local (50 miles/80 km from home) event. Being diabetic with a strong family history, this cause is dear to me. This was my fourth time doing the ride.

5-6 thousand people climbing Alpe d'Huez 6 times in one day...that's nuts! (But more power to them!)

All, in our cycling club is a member who drive's every day 200 km or more. He is also a heavy diabetic. So, I believe everything for helping Diabetic out of this world must be taken with both hands.
Maybe it's time to do it worldwide. If it's possible for Cancer we can do it for Diabetic to.
