Hi folks!

I´m planned visit Scotland next Summer in August with my family. I will fly to Edinburgh and i´m planning to visit Edinburgh, Sterling, Fort William, Kyle of Locklash, Inverness and way down again to Edinburgh.
I will stay 3 nights in Edinburgh to see the city and near town, Sterling . After that, I will take a train to Inverness to visit Lockness lake and the sorrounding area were i´m planning to stay a night, arriving in the morning and leave in another day by train to Kyle of Locklash for one or two days??? After, I will travel to Fort William to travel in Jacobite train and perhaps stay one night. I'm tempted to go to the Isle of Skye but i´m not sure if is a good place to visit or have time to do it????
I need your help regarding the accomodation, local food, weather and everything you want to share with me regarding the beautiful points of interest of your beautiful country.
Thanks in advance.

Pedro:)

Pedro... great choice of route, some of my favourite places, will you be hiring a car for any part of the journey ?. PM me your address and I'll gather up a bunch of stuff and get it sent to you. Weather is anybody's guess...what is guaranteed is midges have a look here quite a good site http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usfeatures/midges/ Although much of what you read is a scientific take on these beasts, believe me they'd bite their way through a corrugated iron coffin to get at you. The best repellent is oddly enough a womans cosmetic called 'Skin so Soft' by Avon need to order it early though the entire stock is bought up by climbers at the start of the season.

Thank you and I will send you my email.

You wearing womans gear again Del

Hi Pedro,
Be sure to check out the museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Stirling Castle, a great place for inspiration.
Hope you have a great time in Scotland.
Scotty

And near Stirling is Doune Castle, where the besieging Monty Python crew faced a barrage of farm animals...you can even rent coconut shells in the gift shop to clap together to simulate the sound of horses clip clopping as your wander the fortress. :)

Colin

Hi Pedro,
I love Scotland and have been many times, but if I was you I would take Del's advice and buy some of that Avon stuff if it works.

Otherwise you will get bit that may times off the midge you will come back looking like something off Star Trek Deep Space 9.

cheers
Richie
