Hello to all !!
I have uploaded the pics of my sculpture of indian cavalry in ww1 in a charge----the horse is my first ever sculpt-- lots of mistakes in historical detailing, proportions and anatomy... do have a look....comments nd critics are welcome.

Inspiration for starting on the horse mostly comes from looking at Sergey Zlobov's horses and human from Maurizio Bruno's work---a big thanks to them!!

size-- approx 150mm high
material-- a 2-part epoxy (the epoxy used for sealing cracks in household purposes)

abhijit, this is a fun piece over all. Great action and movement. Love the facial expression you got on the soldier, certainly a look of purpose! With that said, as you mention, the horse, despite looking like a decent sculpt, is far too small for this figure. It looks like the proportions for the head and neck are too lage for the rest of the body. Also the left arm of the rider looks awkward, too long maybe? I have to admit though, this really is a wonderful action filled pose, and my hat is definitely off to you for attempting it! I think with some minor tweaks, your next few figures will be on thier way! Keep it up!

HiAbhijit,

Wow, a wonderful piece full of action and drama. I agree with Jay's comments. The Indian Cavalry of WW1 rode Australian Waler horses which are much larger and longer than the one you have sculpted. Well done. A great effort for your first horse.

Expressive, dynamic pose.

Agree with the others, figure looks too large for his mount.

The only people who looked oversize to their mounts were the Mongols, Samurai, and some Chinese cavalry, mostly because the breeds of horse were usually smaller, as compared to European/ Arabian breeds.

Ok, enough about the horse.

here is a website
http://www.fineart.sk/index.php?s=8&cat=12

that has the 'blue prints' for the human body. You are doing so well, I would really like to see more of what I feel is under represented. I never knew that India had a contingent in WW1, for example.

looking forward to seeing more of your work.

cheers

the horse looks quite small, but my effort would be not so good.
Just keep on trying and one day we'll be buying your stuff

A beautiful sculpt my friend. It looks like hes tameing Napoleons horse on this one, but it will look amazing regardless of that. Have a fun one!

thank u all for having a look--i look forward to improve my anatomical accuracy and detail in every successive sculpt--still adding putty in 'right' places is proving a bit difficult--but i hope to reach 'there' somtime.

@sambaman, tony, janus, vergilius, maglar --yes it was indeed fun to go about it--focusing on 'expression' rather than much historical accuracy for the 1st time......njoying my time sculpting after a long day at work :)....

In india its next to impossible to find somthing like miniatures in the market...so evrything has to be scratchbuilt...still i hope to learn and grow....with ur support here ofcourse..

thank you again.
