Wow! One of the posts of the year for 2014 in my view. Absolutely fascinating. What I found especially interesting was looking at the footwear - hardly seems to have changed much for centuries.
I was wondering to myself which Tommy had the heaviest load - then I saw 1982's entry then stopped wondering!

Great link Gra, had to laugh when I saw the green vests and "shreddies" in the Falkland pic. Remember getting issued with them and thinking WTF needless to say i never ever wore them.
