Hi Al,
first of all, thank you very much for your excellent review of the Figurine of Iron Jacket. I'm very happy you like the figurine, as I did a lot of the research for the figurine.
It was a very difficult and time consuming job. The problem is, that between 1830 and 1870 there is nearly nothing left of the Comanche culture. The Texas Rangers and white scalpthunters destroyed everything of the Comanche culture they found. You even don't finde an information at what time the Comanche had war shirts.
The solution comes when I found a testemonies of a Cheyenne warriors who described the apperance of Iron Shirt.
Iron Shirt was NOT the drunken fool, shown in the racist John Wayne movie "Comanchero" wehre Iron Shirt is represented in a cuirass. He was a inteligent, modest leader of his band, careful respected leader. His son was Peta Nokona the husband of the white Cynthia Ann Parker and the grandfather of the last great Comanche chief Quanah Parker.
Iron Shirt was killed when he try to negosiate with the white soldiers under the white flag of negasiation.
The defende of his warriors that follows enabled the women and childern to escape the slaugther by the white soldiers.
I would be happy to see the figurine painted from your hand.
Best regards from Germany
Bruno
