I knew I'd seen it elsewhere. I'm sure I am not the first to ask why eBay doesn't shut down a seller like this. Or, why poeple buy from a seller like this?
Thanks,
Michael

Allways the same problem with pirated figures on Ebay or other sites, if the brand doens't put a claim to the legal autorithy, put a copyright on the model (not the brand but the model), it's not possible for Police or Custom to do something. And you have to do the same thing for UE, and countries where you want prtection for your model and brand.
On ebay, the only way is the vero program, but only the owner of the mark can use thi s program.
I know very well this problem, it's a part of my job as Law Officer.
In fact its' quite impossible do stop piracy !!!!!!

Yes, it is pirated, the figure from Pegaso Models is in white metal.

Correct! It's a pirated recast of this Pegaso item

Hi, Mike, welcome to the Planet!

You should have a look in our subforum for the topic of piracy: http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/report-piracy.55/ to get an idea of how widespread piracy is.

We've discussed it quite often, but as has been noted even in some of the previous responses, basically, the copyright holder is the only one with standing to go after a pirate. Most decide that the cost of pursuing a claim is not worth it, for the amount they lose in a sale.

I should add that even merchants do it. Look at Andrea and how they copy movie subjects, just changing the name to avoid license costs (eg, Spock as "Space Officer").

As consumers, all we can do is educate ourselves to recognize pirated copies, and share the info with each other, and then we must each decide whether we're going to buy when we know a piece is pirated. More than that, we really can't do.

Gordy, maybe we should move this report to the piracy thread, for organization purposes?

Prost!
Brad
