Hello there
A short while ago I was introduced to the world of the 30/32mm "Mini"
Thanks Rob, The amount of detail on these things is amazing
So having purchased a few Together with a wealth of information off the web
and studying other sculptors work I made a start.

First an inverted Y shape starting from the feet, I found this pretty
revolutionary as I have always started with the the head and then lost
interest as my efforts at heads came to nothing.

So here I am sculpting anatomy onto a 30mm twist of fuse wire
stuck on a wine bottle cork without the safety net of being able to use a stock head
inthe event of it all going horribly wrong.

The starting point

Hi,
Having got the wire shape to the correct size I then covered it in Magisculpt
put in basic anatomy then refined it with a scalpel blade/sand paper

Then faced it off with Kneadlite (Duro) Ilove using this stuff it goes on a bit
at a time and smooths out beautifuly if you mix more yellow lot less blue
and the working time is longer

When it came to the head after no end of attempts I finaly found a basic shape
which after carving here and there and adding putty for nose and lips
seems to be good enough at this stage.

The subject is a fantasy one Girl with a big sword, It is based on a Larry Elmore
drawing.
All comments wellcome

Hey Frank,
I also ,love those little 30mm figures.
They are a pain in the neck to paint, I can immagine how difficult and demading they must be to sculpt.

Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next step.

Roc. :)

Hi Frank

Glad to see the progress on this lady!

The face does look good......braver than me, still chickening out on doing my 30mm head!

Keep it coming!

Rob, Kamil,

Hey Rob, i'm interested! :) My girlfriend wants me to paint one for her... maybe i can make her learn to paint it by herself

Hi
Still struggling and enjoying every minute of it. The trouble with
those Fiannas I got, is they are so well sculpted.

So using them as reference, attempted to modify the head,
not a good idea, after some time lost it all. What you see in the pic
is a re-sculpt minus the eyes

Still as I said this project is really enjoyable.

One thing about sculpting in a small scale, every movement of the sculpting
tool makes a difference.............good or bad.
