A number of firsts for me this one.......First post on PF, First large scale bust and First time using oil paints!

The 1/9 scale bust is from MMM and is of James Nicolson, who was quite unbelievably the only Fighter Command pilot to win a VC in the entire war.

Face is painted in valejo acrylics but I took the plunge and painted the helmet and jacket in oils following a really useful recent talk at Darlington club (thanks Ray!).

I normally stick to 1/35 figures and dioramas so this was a new project for me, and certainly won't be the last :)

Looks very good to me, the leathers are really good and the flesh is spot on. BTW well come aboard a friendly and helpful planet figure.

Thank you :) Been lurking for a while and only just plucked up courage to share my work.

Hi Matt

Great to see you took the plunge ....... A BIG WELCOME again

You can't beat a bust ....guess what I only paint ...lol

Very nicely finished ...good leathers and I do like the base presentation

Hope we see much more

Why not put something into FOTM as well ( Figure of the month ) ...everyone is welcome ..great prizes as well

Anything you need do ask

Nap

PS Darlngton club ......good modellers

Thanks for the great comments guys :) Figure of the month looks a bit daunting to me as the standard it just fantastic and way beyond my level at the moment, although in the spirit of inclusion I may put something in just to highlight how good the others are!

I must admit I really enjoyed doing this bust and have my eye on a couple of others. However I'm also in the middle of finishing some 1.32 Cockpit Wings figures and a diorama based on a 1/32 WW1 RFC figure, so the queue is getting longer!

Matt
