Here are some pics of my latest peice. The piece in question in Hawk Miniatures bust of James McCudden VC. This bust was sculpted by Carl Reid and he has done a great job or capturing his likeness. The piece is deceptively simple, which probably makes it more difficult. Here are some pics of the casting.

I have been experimenting recently by using my airbrush. One of the advantages, apart from speed of applying colour, is the thin layer that is applied. Because I was using an airbrush I have started on the uniform first. The basecoat, in acrylics, is a mix of British Tank Uniform, Ivory and Earth. The basic highlights and shadows have been laid. The key to this piece is the detail such as the VC. Once these have been done the piece will begin to come alive.

Here are some pics of the face being painted. As I said it is quite simple and I do not want to go to far with it. More to be done to it though.

Well Ross this is sure one challenging bust with big surfaces. IMO "blending" will be the key to this one. Looks good so far. Have courage and keep us posted.
