Bankruptcy declaration of German foreign policy!

On January 4, 1894, the so-called "Two Alliance Treaty" (Entente Cordiale) came into force between the fundamentally different partners, the Russian Empire and the French Republic!

The next picture from a French newspaper shows the Russian Tsar Nikolai II and the French Prime Minister Faure shaking hands!

Part of the alliance is a top secret - directed against Germany! – Military Convention.

The next picture shows the Russian tsar as a guest on maneuvers in France in 1902...

...and here French President Loubet during his return visit to the Russian autumn maneuvers in Krasnoje-Sselo...:

This means that Germany is "circled", as the German media said at the time, and is facing a two-front confrontation in a possible war!

The situation has now arisen in which the former German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck...

…always warned!

The Russians had originally intended to come to an agreement with the Germans, since the Kaiserreich was ideologically much closer to them than the French Republic (whose national anthem "Marseillaise" was banned in Russia!)

In addition, the Romanov and Hohenzollern dynasties were related to one another on several occasions.

The old Chancellor, Prince Bismarck – dismissed in 1890 by the cocky young Kaiser Wilhelm II...

...had a secret treaty of neutrality with Russia in 1887 (the so-called "Reinsurance Treaty") which the Russians were only too happy to extend!

A corresponding request from Tsar Aleksandr III.

... German diplomacy under the influence of the extremely anti-Russian Privy Councilor Friedrich von Holstein...

... but lightly rejected.

Then Russia (fearing German military power) was forced to move closer to France (who felt the same way).

And on January 4, 1894, Germany now faced two opposing neighbors on its eastern and western borders...:

The proclamation of the "Entente Cordiale" was nothing less than the declaration of bankruptcy of German foreign policy!
