I have returned to this hobby which I have only managed to start into over the years. I do find all the people here on the Planetfigure forum very helpful and friendly.

Does anyone know of a basic "face painting how to" link? I am looking for colors to use, etc.

Thank you

Face Painting in Oils

Suggest you take a look at Historicus Forma's website. In the search engine type in Painting Faces. You should see SBS's by people like Gino Poppe, Craig Whitaker, etc. Books by Shep Paine and Danilo Cartacci (spelled right?) are excellent. Hardy Tempest says he is close to making available a DVD on figure painting. This would certainly be a "must have".

Good Luck,

Gary

Thank you for the link, it was good. I need a magnifier eyepiece, my regular reading glasses just aren't cutting for 54mm face work.

Starting out

Hi baldwin8,
Welcome back , a good guide to oils is in Historical Miniatures No 34 , ideal for beginers , lots of hints and mixes .

Happy painting ..post your work

If you do buy a headband magnifier, invest in one with glass optics, it will last forever and give great clarity. The cheap plastic ones scratch and are less clear.
